The voting process for the election of the 22nd Speaker and the 21st Deputy Speaker of the 16th National Assembly of Pakistan has started today.
Umar Ayub, the candidate nominated for Prime Minister by Tehreek-e-Insaf and Sunni Ittehad, protested and said that the House has not yet been completed because the women members of his party have not yet decided on certain seats, therefore the proceedings are ongoing. Can’t be kept.
He said that the election of Speaker Deputy Speaker is incomplete and the rightful one should be in this House.
Ayaz Sadiq of Muslim League (N) is likely to be elected Speaker for the third time, while he is competing against Malik Amir Dogar of Sunni Ittehad Council.
People’s Party’s Ghulam Mustafa Shah and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Junaid Akbar Khan will contest for Deputy Speaker.
