President Asif Ali Zardari approved the dismissal of the resigned Supreme Court judge, Mazahir Naqvi.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Law also issued a notification for the dismissal of former judge Mazahir Naqvi of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the notification, the Supreme Judicial Council declared Mazhar Naqvi guilty of judicial misconduct.
The notification of Mazahir Naqvi’s resignation as a judge has also been withdrawn.
This month, the Supreme Judicial Council sent its opinion to the President for approval, recommending the dismissal of Mazahir Naqvi.
In the statement issued in this regard, it was said that the Supreme Judicial Council reviewed 9 complaints against Mazahir Naqvi.
Mazahir Naqvi was found guilty of misconduct in these complaints, which should have led to his removal from the post of judge.
Justice Mazahir Naqvi had resigned in January during the proceedings of a complaint against him in the Supreme Judicial Council.
In a letter sent to the President, he said that it was an honor to be appointed and serve as a judge of the Lahore High Court and then the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He said that, being a matter of public information and, to some extent, public record, it is not possible for me to continue serving as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan under such circumstances.
In his resignation, he wrote that the thought of ‘due process’ also compels this decision, so I am resigning from the post of judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from today.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had rejected Justice Mazahir Naqvi’s request to stay the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council.
