People’s Party candidate Syed Owais Qadir Shah has been elected Speaker of Sindh Assembly by getting 111 votes. Sofia Shah of MQM Pakistan could get 36 votes.
Agha Siraj Durrani administered the oath of Speaker Sindh Assembly to Owais Qadir Shah.
On this occasion, the newly elected Speaker Sindh Assembly Owais Qadir Shah said that ‘I thank Bilawal Bhutto, Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur for being elected Speaker.’
The voting process for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Sindh Assembly has been completed and a total of 147 votes were cast.
111 candidates of PPP and 36 candidates of MQM cast their votes. 9 independents supported by Tehreek-e-Insaf and one member of Jamaat-e-Islami did not participate in the voting.
