The IMF has said that a mission will be sent to Pakistan for a second review of the standby program after the formation of a new cabinet.
It should be noted that the government coalition currently has to choose a finance minister who will immediately have to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a new bailout package. The current agreement with the IMF expires on April 11, after which another bailout program will be needed.
Giving a press briefing in Washington, IMF Director of Communications Julie Kozek said that the completion of the existing standby arrangement is a priority.
The director of communications said, “We look forward to working with the new government of Pakistan on policies to ensure economic stability.”
