The provincial assembly meeting will be held today on Friday under the chairmanship of Speaker Babar Saleem Swati for the election of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ali Amin Gandapur of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has submitted nomination papers for the election of the Chief Minister, while the joint candidate of the opposition will be MPA Dr. Ibadullah, who is the younger brother of Amir Maqam.
Ali Amin Gandapur, a candidate supported by Tehreek-e-Insaf, has submitted his papers for the Chief Minister position as an independent. He has the support of 87 members of the Sunni Ittehad Council.
On the other hand, the number of members sitting in the opposition benches has increased to 26, including 9 from Jamiat Ulema Islam and Muslim League, 4 from PPP, 2 from PTI parliamentarians, one from Awami National Party and one independent candidate.
