According to the Reuters news agency, in response to a question from journalists, President Joe Biden said that his message to Iran is not to do this and to stop.
He said that we will defend Israel and support Israel. We will help defend Israel, and Iran will not succeed.
The American president said that he would not discuss sensitive information, but he said that he feared an attack by Iran on Israel soon.
Earlier, White House spokesman John Kirby said there was a real and viable threat of a possible Iranian attack on Israel, but he did not provide any specifics on a possible timing.
John Kirby said that the US is watching the situation in the region very closely.
Suspected Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1, for which Iran has vowed to retaliate.
A top Iranian general and six other Iranian military officers were killed in the attack, further escalating tensions in the already tense region of the Gaza war.
Iran has been threatening retaliation since the attack in Damascus.
On Wednesday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei threatened in a speech that the Israeli government must be punished and they will be punished.
In response, the Israeli foreign minister wrote on social media platform X that “If Iran attacks from its border, Israel will respond and attack Iran.”
