In order to eliminate impediments to the completion of an Iranian gas pipeline project, the Pakistani government is thinking of getting in touch with a global law firm.
A Pakistani government official was quoted by Arab News on Tuesday as stating that Pakistan wishes to work with a legal firm to investigate ways to get the US sanctions against Iran lifted.
This is happening at the same time that US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Donald Lowe, stated a few days ago in a congressional hearing that the US administration is trying to halt the project of an Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
In order to address the nation’s energy needs, the Pakistani government intends to persuade the US to somehow complete the project.
Under anonymity, a representative of Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy informed Arab News that “we are considering several ways to finish this project without having to deal with US sanctions.”
