The leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, has been elected an unopposed Member of the National Assembly from the NA-207 Constituency of Nawab Shah.
According to the Provincial Election Commission on Friday, Asifa Bhutto Zardari has been elected as a member of the National Assembly unopposed after the withdrawal of the candidates contesting the election.
It should be noted that Asifa Bhutto Zardari, the daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, was participating in the by-elections for the seat vacated by her father.
This seat belonged to Constituency NA 207 of Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawab Shah) One of Sindh. A total of 11 candidates contested the by-elections for this seat. The papers of seven of them were rejected, while the papers of four candidates, including Asifa Bhutto Zardari, were accepted. Among them, two belonged to the People’s Party, while two were independent candidates.
According to Form 34 issued by the Provincial Election Commission on March 29, the three candidates contesting against People’s Party leader Asifa Bhutto Zardari have withdrawn their papers. Asifa Bhutto Zardari has been declared successful after withdrawing the papers of all the candidates.
With this success, Asifa Bhutto Zardari has started her political journey with her father’s native Nawab Shah. She will soon be sworn in as a member of the National Assembly and will be part of the activities of the House along with the Chairman of the People’s Party and her brother Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
